Walking over the long unending distances on the frozen river is an exotic adventure that takes a lot of physical strength and courage to undertake. The challenges of the high-altitude terrain add to the challenge provided by the snow and ice all around. Trekking the Chadar trail is a difficult task but one that is worth every minute spent on it. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at Ladakh and Acclimatization

You will land at the Leh Airport and check in the guest house where you will have a chance to refresh yourselves and begin your acclimatization process in Leh. Most markets in Leh are closes during the winters, but you will still be able to buy any last-minute trekking provisions from the shops should such a need arise. You will spend the night in the guest house in preparation for the next day.

Day 2 - Drive to Chilling (65Kms) and Trek to Gyalpo (5-6 Hours approx,)

Day 2 begins with a drive up to Chilling. You will begin driving along the Indus river to the village of Nimu where a short break will ensue. Post some lunch and sightseeing, you will continue the drive till you reach Tilad Do near Chilling.Tilad Do is the starting point of the trek. After passing Shingra Koma, you reach the camp-site for the day at Gyalpo. Early dinner and call it a day.Overnight stay at camp.

Day 3 - Shingra Koma to Tibb Cave. Trek through Zanskar (15 km approx)

This day sees the beginning of your Short Chadar trek. After an early tea and breakfast, it will be time to tackle the day’s trekking. You will be walking approximately 15 kilometres in the ice and snow today, following the Zanskar river as it meanders through the valley.The Day 3 trek follows the route from Shingra Koma to Tibb Cave.Camps will be set up once we reach Tibb cave and we will enjoy the spectacular beauty of the place while you enjoy the generous warmth of yaks-tea and steaming hot food.Overnight stay in tents.

Day 4 - Trek from Tibb Cave to Shingra Koma (15 kms)

On Day 4, you will head back over the route you trekked yesterday. This day will see you trekking the 15 kilometres from Tibb’s Cave to Shingra Koma and onwards to the campsite at Gyalpo.As you walk, you will have a chance to explore not just the beauties of the landscape but you can see several trails of pug-marks all along the trek – footprints belonging to foxes, ibex or snow-leopards.Overnight stay in tents.

Day 5 - Shingra Koma to Tilad Do (10kms) and Drive to Leh (65kms)

On Day 5, you will start your journey back to Leh. After an early breakfast, you will begin the last leg of your trekking from Gylapo to Tilad Do. This is the last chance to enjoy trekking over the frozen Zanskar river.After reaching Tilad Do, you will catch a ride back to Leh. Overnight stay in the guesthouse

Day 6 - Return from Leh

This is the last day of your Short Chadar Trek package.After breakfast, it will be time to check out of the guesthouse and head over to the airport.
